Outspoken and ‘no nonsense’ coach J.E.A Sarpong has pants down the Black Stars management committee members for not performing their roles properly prior to the Ghana vs. Congo 2018 World Cup qualifying match played at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium on Friday, September 01.
Speaking to Joe Debrah on Happy [98.9] FM on Sunday, coach Sarpong explained that the management committee members must also take a bite of the blame because they neglected the team ahead of the all important game.
“I think the boys were neglected and that could also be a factor to the performance, we witnessed on Friday,” coach Sarpong noted.
“I was in Kumasi to monitor the Black Stars’ training and I can say on authority that I did not see any Exco member until Thursday when I saw Palmer. I don’t want anybody to come and tell me that I am lying because I was in Kumasi myself,” the former Ebusua Dwarfs coach warned.
According to coach Sarpong, there’s still a window of opportunity for the Black Stars to qualify to the 2018 Mundial in Russia, but reckons all the same that Ghana is realistically out of the race.
The Black Stars hopes of lightening a chase behind Uganda and Egypt in Group E was extinguished on Friday as they were held [1-1] by the Red Devils of Congo.
