New Manchester United signing – Alex Telles has tested positive for Covid-19, manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has confirmed.

The Brazilian who joined the Red Devils on transfer deadline-day from Porto impressed in his debut for Manchester United in their last week Champions League opening match against Paris St Germain in Paris, where he helped the side to a 2-1.

But Telles conspicuously went missing from United squad and his absence from the squad provoked some questions from the media which Solskjaer answered last night:

“Telles has tested positive for coronavirus.

“He’s been out for a few days, no symptoms though so he’ll be fine, back soon.”

The player himself also took to his Instagram page to confirm after the club had announced the news:

“Guys, I want to thank you for the messages of affection that I have received from the moment that United announced that I have been diagnosed with COVID-19.

“I want to say that I am fine, isolated and soon I will be back with all my strength to help my teammates.

“Once again, thank you all for your lovely messages!
