Two times English Premier League winner and current English League Cup Winner Riyad Mahrez has had a greater impact this season compared to last season when Manchester City were champions.
Right Winger Riyad Mahrez began his football career in France where he was born precisely in AC Le Havre which was a Ligue 2 football club.
After playing in AC Le Havre for about 3 seasons and scoring 10 goals and assisting 12 goals in 66 appearances, Leicester City then in the 2nd tier of English football went for him.
Joining Leicester City, Mahrez had a minor impact on the promotion of the club into the English Premier League in terms of goal contribution (8 goal contributions in 17 appearances).
In 2014 was when Mahrez made his premier league debut where his goal contributions dropped from 8 to 7 in 30 premier league appearances.
Surprisingly in 2015/2016, Mahrez’s impact increased significantly which played a major role in Leicester City’s first and only Premier League title. He contributed to 27 goals in 37 Premier League matches for Leicester that season.
His performance gave him the opportunity to join Manchester City in the 2018/2019 season where he became a Premier League Champion with Pep Guardiola’s side.
In 2019, after winning the Premier League, Mahrez went on to captain his national team (Algeria) to win the African Cup scoring a crucial goal in the semi-finals that put them through to the final.
As his contract in Manchester City ends in 2023, he might be part of Pep’s plans as Pep plans to stay in Manchester City to win more trophies with the club.
