Mamelodi Sundowns have confirmed the signing of Lesedi Alton Kapinga from Premier Soccer League side – Black Leopards on a five-year contract.

The 25-year-old midfielder has been moved to the teams’s camping base in Rustenburg where the Brazilians are preparing ahead of the resumption of the 2019/2020 PSL season.

Meanwhile, as part of the Covid-19 protocols, Kapinga is currently in isolation and will interact with the rest of the squad in person once his isolation period is completed.

Welcoming the midfielder digitally, coach of Mamelodi Sundowns – Pitso Masemane said Kapinga fits into the team’s style of play:

“Lesedi is a good young prospect and we are looking at getting as many young players as we can.

“He fits the programme with his age and the style of play.

“He is the type of player who likes combination play and loves one on one and taking defenders on. He scores goals also and I wish him all the best.”

Having started his senior career at Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila, Lesedi Kapinga joined Black Leopards in the summer of 2018. His performances in the 2019–20 PSL season attracted praise and interest from the big clubs in South Africa including Mamelodi Sundowns.
