Hundreds of people walked through some principal streets of Kumasi amidst live band and music on Saturday, March 10, 2018 to support the maiden edition of the MTN-Mamedia Ventures Independence Day health and fitness walk.
The annual event which is aimed at emphasizing good health practices, as well as encourage, and to motivate residents of the Garden City [Kumasi] to contribute to the blood bank at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital [KATH] widely achieved its purpose as number of pints of blood was raised to feed the new Mother and Baby unit at KATH.
The two-hour fitness walk was dominated by those in the corporate organizations, including MTN Ghana and the State Insurance Corporation [SIC] within the Garden City and its environs.
The First Lady, Rebecca Akufo-Addo through her foundation also raised a sum of GHC 10 million to build the new unit – Mother and Baby unit.
Meanwhile, the walk turned into a carnival at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium when a number of fitness groups also joined the event.
The Mamedia Ventures Walk 4 Life was sponsored by the MTN Foundation, SIC Insurance Company Limited, Everpure Mineral Water, Yummy Noodles with kind support from Kofikrom Pharmacy and Lick Lips Yoghurt.
