Retired Black Star striker, Malik Jabir has backed Manhyia’s decision to place a ban on player recruitment into Asante Kotoko.
Speaking in a telephone interview on Wontumi TV on Tuesday, June 30, the for striker advanced that there’s no need for the Porcupine Warriors to go to the market since the Premier League is on hold:
“I agree totally with the decision because as we speak there is no league in the first place to even assess the quality of potential players who can fit into the Kotoko team.
“How can you shop from a market with empty produce,” he quizzed.
According to Malik Jabir, it’ll be prudent for Kotoko to back even out from continental club competition because the team is not ripe for that purpose:
“I think our target for now should be to win the Premier League title. There’s no need rushing to compete in Africa.
“In my humble opinion, I think we are not there yet so we should build a solid team first before thinking of competing in Africa.”
