Mikaela Joslin Mayer outfoxed and outboxed Helen Beatrice Joseph to earn a unanimous decision victory on Tuesday, July 14 at the MGM Grand “Bubble” in Las Vegas.

The victory gave the American super featherweight title contender the bragging right as the first female boxer to win on main event in Top Rank on ESPN.

At the end of the 10-round boxing extravaganza, the judges scored the fight [100-90, 2x] and [99-91] in favour of Mayer who won bronze medal at the 2012 World Championships.

Mayer has improved her record to [13-0, 5 KOs] while Helen Joseph record stands at [17-5-2, 10 KOs].

Following the bout, Mayer received a word of encouragement, and a promise, from Bob Arum.

“Bob said, ‘Great fight,’ and that the next one will be for the title,” Mayer said.

The American female boxer also touched on her readiness for a world title fight:

“We’ve been trying to get a world title fight for a while now. I said, ‘Don’t let Eddie Hearn {outbid} us.’”
