Former world champion in three weight classes – Vasyl Anatoliyovych Lomachenko is delighted to make a return to the Madison Square Garden [Mecca of Boxing] tomorrow where he’ll slug it out with Richard Commey.

“Madison Square Garden is a special place for me because during my professional career I had a lot of memorable fights here. It is the Mecca of Boxing,” The Matrix said during Thursday’s press conference.

“Thank you, Commey, you are a strong fighter. I think we are giving a very interesting fight to the fans. As I said before, he has big power and reach and has experience and a big heart.”

“I’m very excited because this is the next step of my boxing career, and it will be very interesting for the fans.”

After stunning wins against José Pedraza, Anthony Crolla, and 2012 Olympic gold medallist – Luke Campbell, Lomachenko suffered his second career defeat on October 17, 2020 against Teófimo López by Unanimous Decision with the scorecards reading 116–112, 117–111, and 119–109.

He, however, made his comeback on June 26, 2021 where he won a 9th round TKO over Masayoshi Nakatani at the Virgin Hotels Las Vegas.
