Libyan champions Al Nasr fine-tuned their preparations for the first leg of 2019-20 Total CAF Champions League first round encounter, where they face Morocco’s Raja Casablanca this weekend.
Al Nasr held a preparatory camp in Cairo, Egypt with coach Mohamed Alkikly preferring to organize twice daily sessions as he hoped to promote his players technical and physical abilities, playing a couple of friendly games against Egyptian sides. Al Nasr goes through the first leg with no injury woes in their troops.
Midfielder Firas Shleik told CAFOnline.com “We are going through the first leg as if it’s the final. Raja is a great team with vast experience in such events. We tried to prepare as much as we can to give a good image for Libyan football, and we promise our fans we will do our best in both legs”.
“If we managed to go through this round, we will be much stronger in the coming rounds. Despite the difference in preparations we will show our strength, and our target is to go as far as we can”, he added.
The first leg is scheduled at Petrosport stadium in Egypt’s capital Cairo on Saturday (14 September 2019), and it’s the first ever CAF fixture between both sides. The return leg will be played in Casablanca fortnight later, with aggregate winner advancing to the group stage, while the loser is demoted to second tier CAF Confederation Cup playoff round.
