Paris St Germain forward – Kylian Mbappe may not be back in time to play in the Ligue 1 winners Champions League quart-final clash with Atalanta.
The silky French striker [Mbappe] suffered an ankle ligament injury in the second half of PSG’s 1-0 win over St Etienne in the Coupe de France final last Friday.
According to the club, the 21-year-old striker would need at least three weeks to recover from the injury.
“The imaging workup performed today confirms a sprained ankle with external ligament injury. Following this trauma, the recovery time is estimated at around 3 weeks,” a statement from the club this afternoon said.
PSG are due to face Atalanta in Lisbon on August 12.
Mbappe [29 goals] who signed for PSG for $214 million in 2017, forms a deadly attacking triumvirate with Neymar and Mauro Icardi.
