Two goals in each half from Obed Owusu and Yakubu Mohammed on Saturday, June 25, 2017 ensured Asante Kotoko’s first win in three months at the Baba Yara Stadium.

The Porcupine Warriors [Asante Kotoko] looked poised for victory as they kept pressing high from the blast of the referee’s whistle with Emmanuel Gyamfi, Seth Opare, and Obed Owusu enjoying a great deal of possession.

Obed Owusu, who has not hit the back of the net for close to a year headed Asante Kotoko into the lead when he redirected Emmanuel Gyamfi’s ball to deceive Rashid Seidu in post for Wa All Stars.

The defending league champions [Wa All Stars] were very vulnerable in the first half, but Asante Kotoko could not capitalize on their vulnerability to increase the tally until the 51st minute when Yakubu Mohammed scored from a close range to extend the Porcupine Warriors’ lead.

The final 18 minutes of the game belonged to the visitors and deservingly pulled one back through Kweku Asuandzie in the 79th minute, but it was too late to salvage a point for Wa All Stars.

Asante Kotoko have now moved from 5th to the 4th position on the league table with 29 points.
