Berekum Chelsea ruined under-fire coach Kim Grant’s home debut as Jonah Attuquaye’s strike sealed the three maximum points for the visitors on the opening day of the 2019/2020 Ghana Premier League game played at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

Attuquaye pounced on a through pass from skipper Braimah Mohammed in midfield beat an onrushing Robert Addo before curling home past goalkeeper Richmond Ayi in post for Hearts of Oak.

Hearts of Oak on the afternoon played second fiddle to the visitors as they had a field day to operate with the ball and leaving the opponent to chase their shadows.

The Phobians had their moments in the game, first, a 42nd-minute penalty appealed was waved off after striker Joseph Esso appeared to have been fouled in the box.

In the 78th minute, an obvious handball in the box was again waved off by referee George Vormawah much to the disbelief of the technical bench of the Rainbow club as well as their fans who hooted at the referee for the decision.

Before that incident, striker Kofi Kordzi left-footed effort rattled off the upright, pumping up the fans in anticipation of the equaliser.

The visitors could have run a mock over the Phobians with more goals but for the lack of purposefulness on the part of the frontline duo of Attuquaye and Kofi Owusu who had a 43rd minute headed goal ruled as offside.
