Khama Billiat’s 9th minute finish proved to be the all-important goal Kaizer Chiefs needed to keep their 2019/20 Absa Premiership title chase in sight as Mamelodi Sundowns mounts unending challenge.

The Amakhosi had to hold their guns very tight to keep their 1-0 lead in over 81 minutes as Chippa United fought gallantly despite playing with numerical disadvantage.

The Soweto giants [Kaizer Chiefs] having gotten the better of the exchanges in the early minutes of the game broke the deadlock under ten minutes as Samir Nurkovic’s flick-on found Khama Billiat who poked home from six-yards out.

Kaizer Chiefs pressured the Chilli Boys some more in search of a second goal before the break, but try as they did they couldn’t find the back of the net.

Chippa returned from the break with a renewed energy, but their aim of getting back in the game suffered a snag after Tercious Malepe was shown a straight red card for bringing down Billiat at the edge of the box.

Despite going down to 10 men, the Chilly Boys managed to get the ball in the back of the net in the 78 minutes but the strike was ruled for an apparent foul on Khune [goalkeeper] in the box.

Chippa would, howevr, finish the game with nine men as Elvis Moyo was sent off in the final two minutes for a dangerous challenge on Mphahelele.

The results leaves Kaizer Chiefs at the top of the table with 56 points, same as Mamelodi Sundowns but with a superior goal advantage.
