King Faisal FC head coach – Kasim Gokyildzi has chastised referee Maale Imgerde Ireme for poor officiating in their match against Hearts of Oak at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

The relegation threatened King Faisal lost 0-2 against Hearts of Oak, but coach Gokyildzi who was not happy with officiating on the day cited referee Imgerde Ireme as the main orchestral of their defeat during his post match press briefing.

“A clear penalty was not given to us. I have to ask all of you [the press] if this position is not a penalty then I don’t know. I am disappointed that we could not win a point here at least, but I’m not disappointed about how we played.

“I am proud of how my players played today. It was a tough game with both teams creating chances, but if we would have gone home with a point at least if we had gotten a good referee.”

Captain Enoch Morrison supported the cry of his coach, saying that the playing body [of King Faisal] were disappointed in the performance of the referee.

“We came into the game well prepared. We played according to our coaches plan, but it’s so unfortunate that we couldn’t get any point from here,” he said.

“We the playing body are very disappointed in the referee. We played what we can. As you can see we had a clear penalty, but we don’t know what happened,” he added.

He, however, assured the supporters of King Faisal that they will survive relegation despite their current position on the league table.

“We are not giving up because we believe we can still make it [out of relegation] so we are going to work towards it. We have another tough game against Dreams FC so we’ll try our best to get a point from there.”

Meanwhile, Kasim Gokyildzi believes that it will not take only a good performance from King Faisal to escape relegation, but a better officiating from the referees as well:

“When you follow the way we played our last games, I’m absolutely sure that we can survive, but it depends on luck and a better referee will have to be on the pitch.”

King Faisal are lying on the 17th position having accumulated 23 points from twenty -three matches.
