Fast rising coach – John Maduka added something new to his resume as he steered Bloemfontein Celtic to 3-1 victory over Kaizer Chiefs at the Absa Tuks Stadium on Wednesday, August 19, 2020.

A well drilled Siwelele [Celtic] came from a goal down to upset Amakhosi with Motebang Sera hitting a brace.

Below is John Maduka’s [no experience at this level] stats since taking over as head coach at Bloemfontein Celtic:

3 – 0 victory over Baroka [Nedbank Cup semifinals]

1 – 1 draw against SuperSport United

3 – 1 victory over Kaizer Chiefs

According to the incredible coach who has already stamped his blueprint at Bloemfontein Celtic in such a short space of time, the plan going into Kaizer Chiefs game was to defend very well and press the league leaders in their own half.

“The plan was if we defend well because we know offensively, we’re very good, we’re very sharp, that’s why you see we have won the game. We’re very happy,” Maduka told SuperSport in a post match interview.

“We knew that if you sit [back] you’ll have a problem against Kaizer Chiefs with the players that they have, you know aerial balls, you’ll have a problem.

“The plan was that we take the game to them, we try and put pressure in their own half, so that they don’t come out and play the balls that they want, so it worked well for us. We take it one game at a time and we’ll be happy to finish in the top eight.”
