Branding giants in modern day Ghana football – Legon Cities FC [LCFC] and Asante Kotoko will this evening face off, paw the ground, and charge at each other in the quest to grabbing the three maximum points in the first ever Friday night football fixture of the 2019/2020 Ghana Premier League season.

The Royals are bent on teaching the Porcupine Warriors a soccer lesson at the Accra Sports Stadium [a venue most Asante Kotoko supporters tout as their second home grounds], but coach Maxwell Konadu and his team have also vowed to give Legon Cities FC a match fit for the heavens to decide.

Two goals from Sadiq Sule and Jeffrey Degorl was enough for the Royals to wrestle for a point from Liberty Professionals [2-2] at the Carl Reindorf Park in Dansoman on Sunday, a game they had almost won until Michael Ampadu’s last minute strike gave the scientific soccer lads some respite.

Asante Kotoko on the other hand piped Techiman Eleven Wonders by a lone goal at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium and would like to make it 2/2 to give their vociferous fans something to cheer about going into the weekend.

Born in Zenica [former Yugoslavia], coach Goran Barjaktarevic is a perfectionist who believes in holding his opponents and breaking them from the flanks with speed and one-time passing game.

The former Chonburi FC [in the Thai League] manager was not on the bench when the Royals faced Liberty Professionals. It was his assistant Wahid [former Liberty captain and a brother of former Ghana U-20 captain Hamza Mohammed] who took charge of the team.

Coach Maxwell Konadu is a student of possessive football and a believer of continuous improvement of his team[s]. Konadu, a former Asante Kotoko striker himself knows the local terrain very well and could conjure magic out of nothing to make sure victory comes the way of the Porcupine Warriors.

Whereas Asante Kotoko can count on the likes of Felix Annan, Empem Dacosta, Justice Blay, Emmanue Gyamfi, Augustine Okrah, Naby Keita, and Songne Yacouba to pull the strings in their favour, Legon Cities FC can equally boast of Fatau Dauda, Ben Daddida, Suleman Mohammed, Sadiq Sule, Jeffrey Degorl, Stephen Bonney, Papadopoulos Panagiotis, amongst others to do the do against the fabulous boys.

The Royals have generated lots of buzz around this particular fixture, having completed a deal with African dancehall King [Shatta Wale] to perform at the match venue and the Melissa hit maker has also declared himself as a number one fan of Legon Cities FC via a live video tweet and called on his Shatta Movement to throng the Accra Sports Stadium in their numbers to witness good football.
