The boxing fans are well aware of the journey that Tyson Fury went through before making his comeback into the ring.

Fury has talked about his battle with depression on many occasions and has inspired millions of fans. However, the story of his rival, Deontay Wilder might be unknown to many.

At the age of 19, Deontay Wilder was forced to pick up the boxing gloves just to provide his family the essentials. His daughter Naieya was born with a debilitating birth defect, which made things even more difficult for young Wilder. After working in multiple jobs Wilder came into the world of boxing and became one of the biggest stars this sport has ever seen. But this journey has not been easier at all.

In a recent interview with Sky Sports, Wilder said that fans only see the success that Bronze Bomber has been able to achieve but very few see the struggle behind the success.

Deontay Wilder on the lowest moment of his life

Talking about the lowest moment of his life, Deontay Wilder recalls the time when he went as far as thinking about suicide to get relief from all the sufferings. Wilder recalled:

The lowest moment that has been for me in my life was years and years ago. I think when my daughter was first born back in 2005 but then in 2006, it became very rocky for me. To the point where I lost my family to the point where I had a gun in my lap, I was ready to commit suicide as well.

Deontay Wilder explained why he chose to take such a drastic measure and said:

“Those thoughts come to your head. We are all human. Those thoughts come to anyone head that I going through some time of depression you feel like the only way to end all this is to take your life. You are not thinking about anyone else, you are thinking about yourself and what’s going on now. If you are dead and gone you won’t worry about things. But you don’t think about how much it will affect your loved ones. Those problems are going to carry on to your family and stuff.”

However, just like Fury, Wilder overcome his demons and achieved some unprecedented feet. “Here is I am to educate and to motivate to show people. We all go through things and we are all human.” continued Wilder.
