Ghana’s all-time leading goal scorer [Asamoah Gyan] has opined that he’s not worried about why he has not been attracting the attention of the Black Stars coach in his recent call ups.
According to the former Black Stars captain, he needs to justify why the coach should invite him into his team and the only way to prove himself is to play active football to start with.
“For me, I don’t believe I should be invited just because I am Asamoah Gyan. I want to earn my call up into the Black Stars,” the striker explained on Adom TV yesterday as he appeared on ‘Agor) ne fom’ sports show.
“You know people talk a lot regardless so there should be some bases upon which the coach should use to back my call up for national assignments.
“For instance, as we speak now I don’t have a club and I wouldn’t like the coach to invite me while I’m inactive.
“At least I would like to get myself a club first and be actively playing football. That’s the only way the coach can assess me and see if I fit into his plans or not so I believe the appropriate time will come.”
Asamoah Gyan who holds the record as the highest African goal scorer at the World Cup has not featured for the Black Stars since the 2019 African Cup of Nations in Egypt.
