American sprint legend Carl Lewis has jokingly suggested recently retired Jamaican sprint king Usain Bolt must now try to match his financial accomplishments after matching up to his exploits on the track.

Though competing generations apart, the athletes have constantly been compared for amassing similar accolades on the track and are front and centre of the greatest of all time debate. While Lewis has 9 Olympic gold medals and 8 World Championships, Bolt has 8 Olympic and 11 World Championship medals.

The 57-year-old Lewis has always enjoyed an antagonistic relationship with Bolt, earning the ire of the Jamaican after accusing him of using performance-enhancing drugs (ped). With both now retired, however, Lewis seems eager to keep the competition going.

“We’re both retired, man,” Lewis told TMZ sports when asked who would win in Bolt-Lewis race.

“He’s gotta beat my paper.”

Bolt could, however, also be winning in that arena as well as multiple sources list Lewis’ net worth at $US20m with the Jamaican worth an estimated $US60.
