Moroccan side Hassania Agadir [HUSA] scored a late goal to survive a home scare by Zambia’s debutants Green Eagles and reach the Total CAF Confederation Cup group stage.
After scoring in injury time to hold Green Eagles to an away 1-1 draw in Lusaka last weekend, HUSA found themselves trailing by a goal with less than 20 minutes to go in Agadir.
But they managed to score the equalizer, before grabbing a late winner three minutes from time to reach the mini league stage with an aggregate 3-2 victory.
After a goalless first half, Tapson Kaseba stunned the home crowd at Adrar Stadium in Agadir to give the visitors a shocking lead after 56 minutes.
HUSA fought back, and grabbed the equalizer via Ayoub Mallouki after 71 minutes. And while the game seemed heading to penalties with the aggregate score tied at 2-2, Karim Berkaoui snatched a late winner three minutes from full time to send Gazelle de Sousse supporters into a frenzy as their side managed a successive qualification to the lucrative mini league stage.
HUSA joined their compatriots RS Berkane who qualified with a 5-0 victory over Madagascar’s Fosa Juniors in a simultaneous kickoff in Berkane.
