The fight for who stays in the 2017 Ghana Premier League [GPL] got illuminated yesterday, July 09 as Great Olympics and Elmina Sharks won their week 21 matches respectively.

Elmina Sharks washed aside relegation goner – Bolga All Stars by 3-1 at the Nduom Sports Complex in Elmina whiles the Wonder club [Great Olympics] also beat Wa All Stars [defending league champions] 2-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The wins for Great Olympics and Elmina Sharks did not change their positions [15th & 14th] on the league ladder, however, it gave them some glimmer of hope having close up the gap between them and the tenth [10th] placed team – Liberty Professionals to two [Elmina Sharks] and four [Great Olympics] points.

A second look at the league table reveals that AshantiGold SC [25 points], Wa All Stars [25 points], Tema Youth [25 points], and Liberty Professionals [26 points] may be out of the relegation zone at the moment, but one cannot conclude that they are completely out of the relegation basket as a slip on the road could drown them into the relegation zone.
