Ghanaian weightlifting ‘Usain Bolt’ – Christian Amoah climbed the ladder in gold at the just ended Africa Weightlifting Youth and Junior Championship in Kampala, Uganda.

Christian Amoah, Ghana’s sole weightlifter at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games in Brazil and the SWAG Male Weightlifter of the Year [2016] won gold in the snatch [135 kg], bronze in the clean & jerk [160kg], as well as silver in the total – 295kg.

The African Youth and Junior Championship serve as the final qualifying platform for the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games in Queensland, Australia.

The final list of qualified athletes for the Commonwealth Games will be published on October 31, 2017.

The Executive Board Members of the Ghana Weightlifting Federation [GWF] are very hopeful that Christian Amoah will represent Ghana at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Queensland, Australia.
