Joseph Paul Amoah is out of the men’s 200m at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games having failed to pull the right mark in the semifinal.
Running in lane nine, the Ghanaian sprinter finished fourth [20.27] behind Jamaica’s Rasheed Dwyer [20.13] and the 17-year-old Eryyon Knighton [20.02] of the United State.
Meanwhile, world champion – Noah Lyles had to wait for a last minute wait to be sure of qualification having finished third [19.99] in his race behind, the Liberian ambush runner Joseph Fahnbuller [19.99], and Canadian sprinter – Aaron Brown in 19.99 seconds.
Andre de Grasse made a bold statement going into the final having finished as the fastest man in the semi-final, running 19.73 seconds ahead of Kenneth Bednarek [19.83] and Jareem Richards [20.10] seconds.
