The Republic of Ghana is expected to make its maiden appearance at the 2021 World Islamic Solidarity Games in Istanbul, Turkey.
Paper works for all this important event has already been initiated between the Ghana Olympic Committee [GOC] and the Islamic Community in Ghana led by His Eminence Sheikh Dr. Osman Nuhu Sharubutu in other to usher Ghana to becoming a member of the Islamic Solidarity Sports Federation [ISSF].
In view of that President of the Ghana Olympic Committee, Mr. Ben Nunoo Mensah paid a courtesy call on the office of the Chief Imam to brief him on the opportunities the Games could provide to the Ghanaian Muslim athletes.
Mr. Ben Nunoo Mensah explained that the World Islamic Solidarity Games is another equally important platform aside the Olympics, and the Commonwealth Games that Ghana can take advantage of and also called on the athletes to start preparations ahead of time.
The Chief Imam embraced the good news and assured that his outfit will treat it with the maximum attention.
The multi-sport event [Islamic Solidarity Games] involves the elite athletes of the organization of the Islamic Conference. The last edition was held on May 12-11 in Baku, Azerbaijan.
