Champions [Aduana Stars] will trek to Sogakope in the Volta region on Wednesday to face the West Africa Football Academy [WAFA] at their favorite Red Bull Arena as the 2017/2018 Ghana Premier League enters its third week.
Aduana Stars have been caught between a rock and a hard place in the past few days from player indiscipline and also failing to progress to the next phase of the CAF Champions League having lost to ES Setif of Algeria.
Despite being faced with petty challenges, Aduana Stars have never lost a game to WAFA at the Red Bull Arena and will be hoping for history to repeat itself.
The West Africa Football Academy on the other hand exhibited why they are still the best team on the local scene having made light work of Liberty Professionals at the Carl Reindorf Park in Dansoman [Accra] over the weekend with former Black Starlets duo – Aminu Mohammed and Richard Danso leading the onslaught.
In fact, the soccer physicians [WAFA] did not only mesmerized Liberty Professionals, but tossed them around with the likes of Fofana Ibrahim, Prosper Ahiabu, Justice Amate, Daniel Lomotey, and Richard Danso having a great bite of the cherry.
WAFA would certainly like to break the hoodoo between them and Aduana Stars come Wednesday, but coach Yusif Abubakar and his ‘Ogya Boys’ would also like to maintain the status quo.
As has been the norm in recent past, tensions have already begun mounting ahead of the game between Medeama Sporting Club and Asante Kotoko at the T&A Park.
The Porcupine Warriors are calling for fair officiating, having suffered from bad officiating from referee Issaka Afful last season at the same venue in a match in which Medeama SC ceased victory [2-1] from Asante Kotoko.
The off field gymnastics will continue, but the spectators who will make it to the T&A Park will nonetheless enjoy a great game likely to be won by the best team on the day.
Seemingly rejuvenated Ebusua Dwarfs will also host Hearts of Oak at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.
Both Ebusua Dwarfs and Hearts of Oak did not have the best of pre season, but the former have started the season well and will be eager to taking all the three points away from the visitors but matches between these two sides has always been difficult to predict.
Kenichi Yashuhashi will also be counting on his boys to deliver positively as Inter Allies welcome Liberty Professionals to the Tema Park.
Inter Allies suffered a 0-1 defeat to Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium and would quickly like to make amends and with Liberty no more showing glimpses of what earned them ‘The Scientific Soccer Boy,’ one would easily predict a win for Inter Allies.
AshantiGold SC will definitely score three marks over Karela FC as the soccer miners [AshantiGold] host the new entrant at the Len Clay Sports Stadium in Obuasi.
Dreams FC will also engage Wa All Stars at the Cape Coast Stadium whiles Eleven Wonders and Bechem United will also come face-to-face at the Nana Ameyaw Park in Techiman.
Meanwhile, the match between Berekum Chelsea and Elmina Sharks at the Golden City Park has been rescheduled.
WAFA 2-1 Aduana Stars
Medeama SC 1-0 Asante Kotoko
Ebusua Dwarfs 1-1 Hearts of Oak
Dreams FC 2-1 All Stars
AshantiGold SC 2-0 Karela FC
Eleven Wonders 1-1 Bechem United
Inter Allies 1-0 Liberty Professionals
Berekum Chelsea 2-1 Elmina Sharks [Thursday]
