The first batch of Ghana’s contingents for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games have arrived in the Fukushima Prefecture town of Inawashiro to prepare ahead of the summer Games.
Team Ghana includes; Abeiku Jackson [Swimming], Unilez Yebowaah Takyi [Swimming], Suleiman Tetteh [Boxing], Samuel Takyi [Boxing], Shakul Samed [Boxing] and Christian Amoah [Weightlifting].
Accompanying the team was Covid-19 Officer, Doctor, coaches, team manager, Chef de Mission, and a press attache.
Ghana qualified in five discipline; boxing, track and field, judo, swimming and weightlifting.
Meanwhile, the boxing team led by coach Ofori Asare has held their maiden training.
The remaining athletes, dominated by track & field will camp in the United State of America before joining their colleagues in Japan.
Inawashiro is the birth place of doctor Hideyo Nogucho who contributed immensely in the fight against syphilis and yellow fever.
