Former footballer and the 25th President of Liberia, George Manneh Oppong Weah has been invited by the Sports Writers Association of Ghana [SWAG] as the Special Guest of Honour ahead of its 43rd Awards Night.
George Weah, undoubtedly one of the greatest strikers of all time and the only African to win the FIFA World Player of the Year [1995] as well as the Ballon d’Or spent most of his time in Ghana after a distinguished footballing career.
Speaking at the launch of the much revered MTN-SWAG Awards Night, President of the Sports Writers Association of Ghana [Kwabena Yeboah] revealed that his outfit is in talks with the newly sworn in President of Liberia and are very optimistic to having him in Ghana.
“The talks are ongoing, but we hope to have a closure to the discussion in the coming days,” he added.
President Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo was the Special Guest of Honour at last year’s event.
The 43rd SWAG Awards Night is scheduled to take place on Saturday, April 28, 2018 at the Banquet Hall, State House in Accra.
