Good and quality pitch enhances attractive football and that is exactly what we witnessed at the 2017 WAFU Cup of Nations which was hosted by Ghana.
In all, the Cape Coast Sports Stadium alone hosted twenty-two [22] out of the total 24 games played.
Mathematically, this represents 1,980 minutes of football and the secret behind the pitch was none other than the Chief Executive Officer of Green Grass Technology [GGT] – Mr. Frank Boahene.
Frank Boahene’s name is synonymous to green and quality pitch having worked as the Head of Corporate Grounds at the then English Premier League side, Fulham [Craven Cottage].
Frank was contracted as the grounds man at the 2008 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON], a test he passed with excellence so it wasn’t surprising when Fox Sports decided to tap into his expertise ahead of the WAFU Cup of Nations.
Fox Sports from all indications were in love with the way Green Grass Technology massaged the pitches before, during, and after every matchday especially the Cape Coast pitch which had to be serviced professionally to accommodate all the matches.
“It has been a challenge to maintain the pitch with the amount football we have seen, but a fantastic challenge to be given the opportunity by Fox Sports to prepare such an important tournament which is the WAFU.”
Mr. Boahene also shared his delight working with Fox Sports:
“It’s such a great experience for myself and my team at Green Grass Technology. We were absolutely delighted when we were asked to come in and prepare the pitch for this tournament.”
No one can write the success story of the 2017 WAFU Cup of Nations without acknowledging Green Grass Technology for the marvelous job they did.
