Former CAF Executive Committee member – Abdul Majid Abu Shweisha has passed on.

Abu Shweisha, a former Libyan Football Federation [LFF] General Secretary, died in Rome, Italy on Monday, July 27 at the age of 80 after a long illness.

Abu Shweisha was one of the most prominent figures in Libyan football, and served as LFF General Secretary in the 1970s.

He played a great role to see Libya organizing the 1982 Africa Cup of Nations, which remains to date the only time that Libya hosted the continent’s showpiece event.
