Former Ajax Cape Town winger – Clifford Mulenga is alleged to have admitted using juju charms during his playing days.
The Zambian professional footballer [Mulenga] made his revelation in an interview with local website – ZamFoot.
“Juju is juju, you see it is an African thing that we have grown up within our traditions, we have grown up knowing that we need to protect ourselves from outside dangers.
“In my experience as a footballer, we have done these rituals at my former clubs as a team and I as well used to carry some other stuff from home which I believed would help me play better,” Mulenga reportedly said.
According to the 32-year-old midfielder, a coach of one of his former clubs was a strong advocate of juju to the extent that he’ll insist on the use of charms irrespective of one’s religion, as he believed that it would make the team to win matches.
Mulenga played for so many teams in the Premier Soccer League including; Bidvest Wits, Bloemfontein Celtic, SuperSport United, Ajax Cape Town, Jomo Cosmos, among others.
