Swiss giants FC Zurich is shocked that English Premier League debutant, Brighton have scuppered out of the signing of Ghanaian striker Raphael Dwamena after failing medicals.
The Seagulls [Brighton] chicken out at the 11th hour having earlier agreed on a ten million pound fee for the FC Zurich goal poacher but quickly had to change their stance after the medical test reveal that the striker has a heart problem.
But FC Zurich quickly released a statement soon after the publication of the unfortunate news saying that they were “very surprised” at Brighton’s decision.
“The same deviation from normal was determined. However, this was judged as being neither harmful to health nor compromising the performance of a top athlete.
“The fact that deviations occur in such medical tests in the field of top sport is not uncommon. However, they are analysed individually and checked for their medical consequences.
“Whether a change in the medical situation has occurred in the last eight months is now being examined.
“We are looking forward to the return of Raphael Dwamena and are convinced that he will again be fully committed to FC Zurich,” the statement read.
Raphael Dwamena is the second player who has seen his transfer to Brighton collapse due to a failed medical test this summer after Brazilian midfielder Renato Neto.
Brighton will visit Watford this afternoon on matchday 3 of the 2017/2018 English Premier League.
