Belgium striker – Romelu Lukaku has already hit the ground running at the ongoing Euro 2020 having scored a brace in his first game of the tournament as the Red Devils trounced Russia 3-0.

Lukaku dominated the early morning headlines for dedicating his first goal to Christian Eriksen in front of the cameras as he celebrates:

“Chris, Chris… I love you!” ❤️ he said through the cameras.

The Inter Milan striker was able to respond in the perfect fashion after 10 minutes when he put the number one ranked team in the world ahead.

Dries Mertens’ cross into the zone was not dealt with by Andrey Semenov and the former Manchester United striker [Lukaku] who found himself in the right area fired Belgium into the lead.

Belgium extended their lead as Thorgan Hazard’s ball into the area was pushed out into a dangerous position by Russia goalkeeper Anton Shunin but the ball went in the direction of substitute, Meunier who slotted home from 10 yards.

Russia came out with more intent after the interval but despite using all five of their substitutions by the 63rd minute, Thibaut Courtois remained largely untroubled in the Belgian goal.

Meunier played Lukaku through on goal and he drilled the ball low into the corner for his second of the night to ensure one of the favourites started on a positive note, providing a boost for followers of Tom Carnduff’s Golden Boot tips in the process.
