Nicholas Gyan’s first half spectacular header was all but enough to seal a hard fought 1-0 victory for Ebusua Dwarfs over Berekum Chelsea at the Cape Coast Stadium on Sunday, April 16, 2017.

After two unsuccessful goal attempts in the early minutes of the game, the host [Ebusua Dwarfs] finally broke the deadlock in the 14th minute through Nicholas Gyan.

Alhaji Mustapha whisked a delightful left footed cross into the goal area of Chelsea from the right flank which found the head of top goal scorer [Nicholas Gyan] who nodded the ball past goalkeeper John Mosse to give Dwarfs the lead.

The visitors nearly pull even in the 23rd minute, but Set Larbi Appiah’s effort took a ricochet off the side post having been put through by midfielder, Justice Anane.

Justice Anane missed a golden opportunity in the 36th minute when he busted into the eighteen yard box of Ebusua Dwarfs, but his side footed shot missed the second post by an inch.

Berekum Chelsea pressed the accelerator high up right from the recess and nearly equalized in the 46th minute when Stephen Sarfo slalomed his way through the Dwarfs central defenders but his shot was timely cleared off the goal line by Ebenezer Ackon.

Berekum Chelsea kept mounting the pressure on Dwarfs but could not score as the home side’s defence kept the back very tight.
