The Congolese Association Football Federation has announced that the 2020/21 Vodacom Ligue 1 season will kick off on September 19 tentatively.
The decision was arrived at as representatives of the clubs met on Thursday, July 23 to think about the forward march of the various leagues and football in general. It was agreed that the two championships resume five weeks after August 15th.
“It will probably be Saturday, September 19, 2020 while hoping that the pandemic does not interfere again.”
In his televised address on lifting of virus restrictions, President Felix Tshisekedi announced that places of worship, stadiums, airports, and international borders will be reopened from August 15.
Football and sporting activities in DR. Congo came to an abrupt halt in March due to the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic.
The Democratic Republic of Congo has recorded a little over 8,844 cases since March 10 with 208 deaths and 5,700 recoveries.
