Jamaican track and field sprinter and 2016 Olympic Games champion – Elaine Thompson-Herah is back after a long injury layoff.

Thompson’s last race was at the Doha 2019 World Championships, but despite running 22.98 seconds at the Velocity Fest in Jamaica on Saturday the sprinter said she’s happy to be back.

“Back on the track after 9 months is a good feeling. I am a little race rusty but a girl is ready to take on any obstacles in her way,” she wrote on her social media page.

“Also racing as a wife am sooo happy Smiling face with open mouth lord you are worthy.

“I hope for nothing but health and healing. Looking like 16.”

The native of Banana Ground in Manchester Parish [Jamaica] who is currently rank as the fifth-fastest woman in the 200 metres event and tied fourth-fastest in the 100 metres got married to Derron Herah on Saturday, 2 November 2019 in Ocho Rios, Jamaica.
