Diego Costa is involved in a legal battle with Chelsea , who have no idea when he will return to the club.
Chelsea outcast Costa , the club’s top scorer last season, is still on holiday and has posted regular pictures of himself partying in Brazil.
Costa is being paid £140,000-a-week but has yet to return to training after an ugly war of words with Antonio Conte who insists that he has no future at the club.
Costa’s representatives has accused Conte of forcing him out of the club and now the club are locked in a legal battle which leaves them facing a bitter stalemate.
When asked Costa will return, Chelsea boss Conte admitted: “I don’t know. There is no news.”
A Chelsea spokesman added: “There is nothing to report on that.”
Costa’s former club Atletico Madrid is still the most likely destination but they have not been able to agree a fee. Atletico are also under a transfer embargo until January and do not want to have to pay him if they cannot play him.
It is another major headache for Chelsea whose summer has been hit by Conte’s frustrations in the transfer market.
They are keen on Inter Milan midfielder Antonio Candreva with Conte pushing to strengthen the squad.
