The fight to determine who truly is the undisputed heavyweight champion of the world seemed to be arriving earlier than expected as Deontay ‘The Bronze bomber’ Wilder accepts the bid to taking on Anthony Joshua in the United Kingdom.
Anthony Oluwafemi Olaseni Joshua defeated Joseph Parker last Saturday in Cardiff to add the WBO to the IBF, IBO, and the WBA titles he already held.
But, the Bronze Bomber [unbeaten in 40 fights] still holds the most enviable WBC heavyweight title, which has attracted the two camps to strike a deal.
Shelly Finkel, Wilder’s co-manager revealed to Daily Telegraph on Monday that he and his camp are glad that Anthony Joshua has finally accepted to face Deontay Wilder.
“We are really glad that Anthony Joshua said for the first time ‘I will fight Deontay next’ and we believe he is a man of his word. Deontay accepts the challenge.”
“We want to make it public that Deontay wants the fight. Deontay is ready to sign and come to the UK to fight this summer.
“Assuming it will be Wembley Stadium in the summer, we are ready, and if they are ready as they say they are, we want to get it done. We want the fight, they want the fight, the public wants the fight.
“There’s nothing to stop it going ahead. When I had Mike Tyson and Evander Holifield, I picked up the phone . That is all we need to do here,” he said.
