Ghana’s Richard Oblitey Commey will come face-to-face with Miguel Angel Garcia Cortez for the IBF and WBC lightweight titles in a yet to be confirmed venue.

The deal between the two camps was reached on Tuesday, October 02, 2018 at the IBF offices in Springfield, New Jersey. The bid had to be postponed as the two parties failed to reach agreement in September.

Mikey Garcia [30], is ranked by the Ringside Magazine as the fifth best active boxer [pound-for-pound] and a world champion in four weight classes. He reportedly earned around $1 million in his last fight with Robert Easter Junior at the Staples Center in Los Angeles which averaged 680, 000 viewers.

Having dropped Easter in round three [3] before a crowd of 12, 560 the American held on to win via a unanimous decision [116-111], [117-110], and [118-109] to become the unified WBC and IBF lightweight champion of the world.

In his last fight, Richard Commey [the contender] stopped Alejandra Luna through a technical knockout [round 6] at the Freeman Coliseum in San Antonio.

Meanwhile, Joshua ‘The Grand Master’ Clottey who held the IBF welterweight title from 2008 to 2009 has said that Richard Commey’s fight with Mikey Garcia is going to be his biggest bout of his career.
