Let’s be honest, Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. missing weight to fight Danny Jacobs (35-3, 29 KOs) was no surprise.

It was so expected that DAZN changed the weight limit to 173 pounds, from 168, and made the fight a light heavyweight bout. They added another layer of insurance by adding Gabriel Rosado to the card, just in case.

You could insert the word enable here, but Chavez Jr. agreed to fork out a million dollars to Jacobs for his indiscretion. Live and learn? Apparently not. Six years ago, Chavez (51-3-1, 33 KOs) was forced to ante up over a 100 grand to Brian Vera after missing the agreed upon weight.

Chaos, as usual, has surrounded Chavez Jr. for weeks. He was only cleared to fight this past Tuesday after having his temporary suspension by the Nevada State Commission lifted.

On Thursday, Jacobs tipped the scales at 167.8 while Chavez weighed 172.7.

Jacobs is listed as a 12-1 favorite. His team said they “didn’t care” about the weight difference.

Don’t expect the fight to go the distance.
