Teenager Daniel Owusu came off the bench to score his first Ghana Premier League goal on Sunday as West African Football Academy [WAFA] beat Ebusua Dwarfs 2-0 at the Red Bull Arena in Sogakope.

Being their first home game in the 2019/2020 Ghana Premier League season, one would have thought that it was going to be a complete walk in the park for the soccer physicians, but the visitors did not give them too much space to freely operate.

The first attempt at goal came in the 10th minute when Prosper Ahiabu tried to tease goalkeeper Razak Issah from a distance, but his effort went off target.

Emmanuel Asamany broke the deadlock in the 13th minute, having capitalized on Justice Amate’s cross into the goal area which was poorly cleared by the defenders of Ebusua Dwarfs .

The fans went hey wire at the sights of former WAFA duo – Gideon Waja and Samuel Tetteh who were present to give the soccer physicians moral support.

WAFA continued their dominance in possession in the second stanza, but created very few goal scoring opportunities.

Prosper Ahiabu missed a golden opportunity in the 73rd minute having been put through by Justice Amate’s well laid wall pass, but the attacker fluffed the chance.

Substitute, Daniel Owusu extended the lead for the academy boys in the 80th minute to make home and dry for WAFA.
