Former Kaizer Chiefs striker Daniel ‘Masaro’ Matsau reckons Amakhosi are competing at the same level as Mamelodi Sundowns.

Sundowns have been the dominant team in South Africa in recent seasons but with Chiefs leading the PSL standings Matsau believes they have just as much quality in the squad.

He did, however, point out that Chiefs midfielder Willard Katsande may need some help in the middle of the park and that the club should still sign a few players.

“Ja hey they started well, they are doing well at the moment you know, they signed quality players,” Matsau told KickOff.

“Even though they are still lacking here and there, for me they’ve got a good team, a balanced one. They still only need one or two players in the middle. Attacking good, middle good.

“You can see now they are competing with Sundowns. You know Sundowns, they’ve got a balanced team. So Chiefs, you can see they are trying to build from that. They need only two players to help [Willard] Katsande.”
