The potential fight between Floyd Mayweather and UFC star Conor McGregor went from a verbal beef to a pipe dream, to something that could actually happen (maybe).

Given the star power of both Mayweather and McGregor, if this fight happened, people would inevitably pay money to watch.

But the fight isn’t without its critics.

Last week, boxing legend (and Golden Boy promoter) Oscar De La Hoya criticized the fight, calling it a “circus.” It’s safe to say that UFC’s Dana White wasn’t happy.

In an interview with TMZ Sports, White blasted De La Hoya and questioned the Canelo Alvarez promoter’s motives.

White said that he has a good relationship with De La Hoya, but he was taken aback by De La Hoya’s comments. Canelo is set to fight Gennady Golovkin in September, which will absolutely turn into a major payday. White thought De La Hoya’s criticism showed insecurity about the Canelo-GGG fight.

And this is all about a fight that still might not even happen.
