Tennis Australia CEO and Australian Open Tournament Director Craig Tiley said he hoped the global tennis community would come together to make a contribution.
“We’re in every community in Australia. We’re a global sport. We have beautiful people who participate in our sport and really want to make a difference,” Tiley said.
“One way we can do it is by raising as many funds as we possibly can.
“We challenge the community to come out and make their contribution … to help us here in Australia and help our communities get through these difficult times.
“We’ve got an unbelievable playing group. They’ll all play their part. We’re all in this together; it’s a team effort.
“It’s tennis’s team effort to raise as many funds as we possibly can and playing our part in making a difference to those who have been so adversely affected.”
