PSL club – Supersport United FC have confirmed that three players and a staff of the team have tested positive for coronavirus.

“We would like to confirm four Covid-19 positive cases, which include three players and a staff member,” the club said.

“Two players and the staff member were put into quarantine for 14 days after testing positive, while the necessary contact tracing had taken place. The trio went for retesting and tested negative,” the statement added.

Meanwhile, only one of the four reported is currently an active case and is under self-isolation, with two players and the staff member having since recovered and returned to training.

“The duo have returned to full training and have joined the rest of the Matsatsantsa squad in preparation for the completion of the season,” a statement from the club on the update of the situation read.

“The third player is currently in isolation for 14 days and is in high spirits and feeling well.”

Supersport United, however, assured full compliance with the COVID-19 protocols as set out by the PSL and SAFA:

“We are continuing with all protocols and awaiting news from the Premier Soccer League for the resumption of the 2019/20 season.”

The Matsatsantsa sits third on the PSL table with 40 points.
