Chef de Mission for Ghana’s contingents at the 2017 Bahamas Commonwealth Youth Games, Mr. Mawuko Afadzinu has expressed hope in the Black Bombers [Ghana’s boxing duo of Alfred Kotey and Philip Quartey] to achieve success despite inadequate preparations.
According to Mr. Mawuko Afadzinu, Team Ghana is not in the Bahamas as tourists, but will surely make an impact as the Commonwealth Youth Games burst into life in Nassau.
Team Ghana kicked off the Games in a flamboyant fashion clocking wins in Beach Volley and Swimming.
Despite the challenges that faced the Black Bombers on the road [preparations] to the games, Mr. Afadzinu continues to habour the belief that Alfred Kotey and Philip Quartey are medal hopefuls for Ghana.
The Bahamas 2017 Commonwealth Youth Games is the largest international sporting event ever to be hosted in the Bahamas.
With its aim of impactful competition, personal development and above all, new Commonwealth friendships, the Bahamas 2017 has been described as the largest-ever edition of the Youth Games with about 1,300 athletes competing for honours in various sporting disciplines.
