South Africa head coach – Hugo Broos has called on the Bafana Bafana to as a matter of urgency eschew any form of smugness ahead of their Qatar 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifying match [Group G] against the Walias of Ethiopia at the Bahir Dar Stadium on Saturday.

The Group G leaders [South Africa] have arrived in Ethiopia ahead of the big game tomorrow with the aim of snatching all three points from the host.

“We know that the opponent has some qualities, so we have to be careful with that, but on the other side, it’s about what we are going to do when we have the ball,” Hugo Broos said.

“We will try to have the game under control. If we don’t have the game under control, we will suffer for 90 minutes. Once we have control of the game, then we can do what we would like to do,” he added.

Coach Broos’ side will face Ethiopia in the second leg on Tuesday at the FNB Stadium [Soccer City] in Nasrec, Johannesburg.

South Africa sits atop the Group G table with 4 points, ahead of Ghana [3 points], Ethiopia [3 points], and Zimbabwe [1 point].
