The face coach Bashiru Hayford wore at the post match conference could not be so different from the answer he gave regarding the profligate striking department of his team – The Black Queens.

“We squandered a number of chances,” the coach said about his team.

The experience coach, however, admitted that he and his technical team will need to sharpen the attacking department of the Black Queens.

“We should have scored about five goals today, so clearly this is an area we’ll be looking to improve,” he noted.

The Black Queens pipped Algeria by a lone goal at the Accra Sports Stadium on matchday 1 of the 2018 Total Africa Women’s Cup of Nations even though Ghana created zero chance in the first half of the game.

The Black Queens were able to open up the defensive network of the Algerians on few occasions in the second half but their finishing was just poor to kill a bird.

Cameroon sits atop the Group A table with three points, same as Ghana but with a superior goal advantage having beaten Mali 2-1 in the second match of the day.

Ghana will play Mali on Tuesday.
