Legon Cities FC head coach – Bashir Hayford has backed his players despite losing 0-1 to Asante Kotoko on matchday 22 of the 2020/21 Ghana Premier League at the Accra Sports Stadium on Saturday.

A 13th minute close range goal from Augustine Okrah was all, but enough to secure all three points for the Porcupine Warriors who have leapfrogged to the summit of the table with 38 points.

The result yesterday has push Legon Cities Football Club down into the relegation zone having accumulated only 23 points from 22 games.

Despite dropping into the red zone, Bashir Hayford refused to place the blame at the doorstep of his players in his post match press conference, admitting that the Royals [Legon Cities] gave their all but it wasn’t just enough.

“Just like his colleagues, Adebayor [Victorien] gave his all but wasn’t enough on the night.

” We came in for the win tonight but unfortunately we didn’t get it.”

The experience coach further reiterated that the match was even tactically and that the only difference was the goal Okrah scored.

“It was a tactical game and the only difference was the goal.”

Meanwhile, former Black Stars captain – Asamoah Gyan said he and his teammates will do everything possible to make sure Legon Cities avoid relegation.
