Kenya recorded their first victory of the CECAFA U-20 African Cup of Nations Qualifiers on Monday, beating Ethiopia 3-0 to top group C.
Goals from Benson Ochieng, Ronald Odebe and Enock Wanyama were enough for Kenya to seal their first victory.
Meanwhile in Group B, Uganda and South Sudan had a goalless draw. Yganda played with ten men for more than 50 minutes after Musa Ramathan was shown a straight red card in the final minutes of the first half.
Earlier on Sunday, hosts Tanzania came from behind to beat Djibouti 6-1 in Group A opener.
Abdourahman Kamil put Djibouti up in the 14th minute, but a masterclass performance from Abdul Hamis who netted a hat-trick inspired Tanzania’s victory in their hunt to qualify for their first ever U-20 Africa Cup of Nations. Teps Theonasy, Khelfin Hamdoun and Kassim Haruna were the other scorers for the hosts.
The qualifiers continue Tuesday when Djibouti faces Somalia group A at Black Rhino Academy in Karatu, Arusha.
