A worker has been hospitalized following an accident at the main 2018 Commonwealth Games Stadium – Carrara.
The work [name withheld] got struck in the face when hundreds of metres of cyclone wire fencing outside the Carrara Stadium collapsed on Monday, March 27 when a nearby helicopter took off.
The accident was caused by the rotor blades of the Westpac Rescue Helicopter. The helicopter hangar is located on the Nerang Broadbeach Road, the exact place where the fencing has also been erected to control traffic management during the Games.
“This massive section of the fence just came crashing down,” an eyewitness [motorist] revealed.
The injured worker was rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital for medical attention where he’s being treated for a laceration to his forehead.
Meanwhile, work is still underway to correct the fencing at the Carrara stadium.
